Art and Collectables

The natural beauty and welcoming communities of the Southern Downs and Granite Belt have created a thriving arts culture. Natural clay deposits are used by local potters and sculptors, and the region is blessed with galleries staging local exhibitions and hosting touring exhibitions from larger state and national galleries.
Stanthorpe’s interesting mix of cultures is reflected in the range of art and craft that the community produces. See local artwork at the
Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery, which also hosts traveling exhibitions or at artists’
studios and private galleries dotted through the Granite Belt region.
Warwick Art Gallery is also worth a visit, and there are plenty of other highlights in the region’s evolving cultural life with jazz, blues and country music festivals, outdoor art exhibitions and celebrations of multiculturalism. The biannual Sculpture Symposium is another exhibition of how local materials (sandstone) are used, by international and local artists, to create works of art.
