Dams and Fishing

A great many opportunities wait for you to cast a line and enjoy your catch.  Try your luck at catching Murray Cod, Golden or Silver Perch or Jew and Spangled Perch.

Permits are required for fishing in the local dams, they can be acquired at the Warwick or Stanthorpe Visitor Information Centre.

Leslie Dam, approximately 13 kilometres west of Warwick off the Cunningham Highway is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod and silver perch. There are no restrictions for boating and there is bush camping for a small fee. Facilities include: toilets, hot showers, picnic tables, wood BBQs (plates and firewood supplied), drinking water, public phone, boat ramps, swimming area and playground.

Connolly Dam, approximately 15 kilometres south east of Warwick off the New England Highway, is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod and silver perch. Power boats are prohibited, however electric motors are welcome.  Toilets available.  Camping not permitted.

Storm King Dam, 10 kilometres south east of Stanthorpe, is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod, silver perch, jew and river black fish.  Glenlyon Dam, approximately 40 kilometres south east of Texas and 90 kilometres west of Stanthorpe, is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod, silver perch, spangled and eel-tailed cat fish.

Coolmunda Dam, 14 kilometres east of Inglewood, is stocked with golden perch, Murray cod and silver perch.  Camping is permitted and is available at nearby Coolmunda Caravan Park at the dam's entrance.  Facilities include: toilets, picnic tables, showers, BBQs, drinking water, public phone, swimming area, boating ramp and playground.  There are no restrictions for boating.
