Warwick & Surrounds

Historic Warwick…the wide streets of this pioneering settlement showcase some of the state’s finest sandstone buildings, hailing from the days when people travelled in horse-drawn carriages.  Also known as the ‘Rose and Rodeo’ city, Warwick hosts its famous rodeo on the last full weekend in October.

During winter, the streets of Warwick come alive with Jumpers and Jazz in July where the deciduous trees are dressed with custom-knitted jumpers and festival goers sway to the sounds of cool Jazz.  Come summertime and you’ll find brilliant displays of sunflowers to the north around Allora and to the east through to Killarney.

While visiting this lovely area of the Southern Downs, why not drop in a line at Leslie or Connolly Dam if fishing is your thing, take a leisurely stroll along the Condamine River, hop aboard the Downs Dasher and marvel at the old steam train, pop out to Queen Mary Falls via Killarney, check out one of the great events or if in town on a Wednesday, a visit to the Pig and Calf Sales is a must to experience true country charm!

If you’re a horse power enthusiast, a visit to the Horse Power Capital of Australia (that’s us) can’t be missed, with an equestrian or motor sport event being held somewhere in the region nearly every weekend.
